Can Tho University warmly welcomed the delegation of JICA Volunteer Program (Japan)

On June 28th 2012, Can Tho University (CTU) was honored to receive the delegation of JICA Volunteer Program (Japan) including Mr. Shiga Ryo, Senior Advisor; Ms. Le Thi Lan Huong, Senior Assistant and Mr. Matsumoto Yoshiyuki, Senior Volunteer to pay a visit at CTU. At CTU’s side, warmly welcoming the valued guests was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan – CTU Rector, along with representative leaders of Foreign Languages Center and Department of International Relation.

CTU warmly welcomed the delegation of JICA Volenteer Program
|
JICA Volunteer Program in Vietnam started in 1995. Then annually, the program has sent Japanese volunteers to Vietnam to support the development of a number of fields such as Japanese language and culture, agriculture, aquaculture, rural development, medical services etc. On this visit, the delegation of JICA Volunteer Program would like to address what development aspects CTU, a large and core university of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam, needs the supports of Japanese volunteers. Accordingly, JICA Volunteer Program will have proper arrangements for volunteers to CTU.
In kind response to the delegation’s goodwill, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan – CTU’s Rector presented the objective to develop CTU to be an excellent university, training the high-quality human resources, strengthening research activities and technology transfer in real life to serve the development of the Mekong Delta and of Vietnam. In particular, CTU focuses on strengthening the development of a number of academic fields to address and take the advantages of the potentials of the Mekong Delta in agriculture, aquaculture in combination with environment protection. CTU put these fields into plan and made the proposal to submit to the MOET of Vietnam (Ministry of Education and Training) as a development program, funded by ODA. Besides, the promotion of Japanese language and culture is also under concern of CTU to teach Japanese language to the human resources of the region that works for Japanese companies, universities and institutions, as well as helping the students who want to study in Japan to strengthen their professions. On this occasion, CTU expressed sincere thanks to JICA Volunteer Program to have consideration to send Japanese volunteers supporting CTU.
The delegation of JICA Volunteer Program recognized CTU’s suggestions to arrange properly at their side in the next stages of volunteering affairs in the future. In the period of the rest six months of 2012, the volunteer will support CTU in teaching Japanese language and culture for students, enhancing teaching skills for CTU’s teachers who teach Japanese language. In addition, the volunteer will also try to address the academic aspects of CTU in training and conducting research on agriculture, aquaculture and environment.
