Can Tho University Welcomed the Delegation of Far Eastern Federal University (Russia)

On June 6th 2012, Can Tho University (CTU) was honored to receive the delegation of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Russia to pay a visit to CTU. Prof. Dr. Babko Andrey – Prorector of International Affairs of FEFU led the delegation, along with Mr. Nguyen Duy Thanh – Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese in the Far Eastern, leader representatives of School of Economics and Management, School of Biotechnology, School of Humanities and Department of International Relation Affairs with professors and lecturers. At CTU’s side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung – CTU Vice Rector, along with leader representatives of schools, colleges, institutes, departments and related staff members warmly welcome the FEFU delegation.

At the reception, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Viet Dung representing CTU Rectorate Board introduced an overview of CTU’s activities on education – training and research. CTU plays an important role to be a core university of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam as well as one of the fourteen core universities of Vietnam. Corresponding to its great responsibilities and duties, CTU has been always making great efforts to make remarkable progress in developing the human resources with high quality for the region and transferring the scientific research results into real life to contribute to the development of the whole country. Following the future development directions to be a core and excellent university, CTU has not only been well-recognized in the whole country, but it has also been internationally recognized for its quality in a number of academic programs in the fields of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Environment. Besides, other fields such as Economics and Administration, Law, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Pedagogy have been being increasingly developing; especially, in terms of Pedagogy, School of Education of CTU has been assigned by the Vietnam MOET to train the teacher resources for the whole region of Mekong Delta. On the stages of its development, CTU highly appreciates the national and international universities and institutions, which have been in good collaborations with CTU in all fields to build up mutual development.
On this occasion, CTU had a chance to listen to the presentation of FEFU’s leaders on activities in teaching, research and internal and international collaborations. In particular, FEFU is one of the first five federal universities in Russia with its 77 institutes and schools and more than 80 international partnerships. FEFU has developed more than 40 branches in Russia, USA, China and Korea. Moreover, FEFU has been well-equipped and has frequently upgraded its teaching, learning and research facilities as well as entertainment centers and clubs for the students and staff members. Up to now, FEFU has been internationally recognized for its quality and has been developing undergraduate and graduate programs taught in English. On this visit, FEFU warmly expressed the goodwill to build up strong collaboration with CTU in the coming time.
In the meantime, CTU and FEFU exchanged information, discussed the potentials and collaboration directions in education, training, joint research, exchanging students and staff members and related issues to develop mutual development.
