With the strengths on agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries, the Mekong Delta in Vietnam has provided much important contribution to food security of the whole country as well as food safety of the world. Therefore, CTU pays highly attention to develop the academic training, research and technology transfer in those fields to foster regional potentials. Upon the new context of complicated and harsh changes of the weather - climate, CTU has strongly promoted the research on the application of biotechnology in the selection and propagation of plants and animals, which are able to adapt to the severe changes of climate like flooding, drought and seawater invasion. At the workshop, local policy-makers, CTU staff and students had good opportunities, from outstanding speakers’ lectures and responses, to learn about and get more inside biotech development, breakthroughs and applications in agriculture development around the world, particularly in Brazil, to improve the productivity, quality and environment protection, as well as its highly potential application of biotech in agriculture in Vietnam. Also on this occasion, CTU also shared the participants the information on training biotech and adaptation to climate change, the orientation on research and rice production in climate change adaptation, as well as applying biotechnology in crop protection and growth.
