Semi - Annual Project Review and Planning Workshop of CLUES in August 2012

Within two days August 9th 2012 and August 10th 2012, the "Semi - Annual Project Review from March 2011 to July 2012 and Planning Workshop" of CLUES took place at the hall of College of Agriculture and Applied Biotechnology of Can Tho University (CTU).
Participants at the workshop were Prof. Dr. Le Quang Tri - Director of Climate Change Research Institute of CTU, National Project Director; Dr. Reiner Wassmann – IRRI Project Leader along with leaders and staff members of the themes of CLUES. The workshop was also honored to welcome representatives from other international orgainzations like IRRI, CSIRO, SIWRP and IAS; representatives of local authorities, policy-makers of the provinces in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, including Hau Giang, An Giang, Bac Lieu and Can Tho; together with representatives of other organizations and individuals under concerns.

The CLUES project is the program in collaborations between CTU and IRRI (International Rice Research Institute) on “Climate Change and Affecting Land Use in the Mekong Delta: Adaptation of Rice-based Cropping Systems” (CLUES), funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) in four years (2011 - 2014). The objectives of the project aim to contribute to help the rice production of the rice farmers in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam adapt to the severe changes of the environment, particularly climate change; increasing productivity and quality of the rice crops; thanks to this, contributing to the socio - economic development of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, as well as national and international food safety.
